Popping noise when pulling away

I have a 99 Boxster which has done 48,000 miles. I have an issue where sometimes when I pull away quickly I lose all power, the car just sludges up, then ere is a clunk or popping noise after which the car takes off again.

Mostly a problem in 2nd gear. If I pump the accelerator it comes back, but as it doesn't happen all the time I sometimes get caught out at a busy junction!!

Anybody have any ideas?

YOu need a new front engine mount. Easy fix, and there is no uncertainty based on your symptoms. 150$ part. Search engine mount and some of my other posts will come up.
