electronic tire pressure sensors

My electronic tire pressure gauge has been acting up (2006 Boxster), and the dealer says that the transmitters have batteries that last about five years.

I say, OK, how much to replace the batteries, and they say, no, you have to replace the transmitters. Parts alone over $700, with labor to install, plus tire balancing, will be over $1,100.

I'm going to wait until I need new tires, to kill two birds, but does anyone know if I can get new replacement sensor/transmitters for a 2006 at a better retail price?

Good luck on that one, many OEM's specifically choose TPM's that are incompatible with aftermarket units. We recently had a Nissan in the shop with two dead TPM sensors, dealer's cost for them was over $150 each. Search around, you may find something.

Suncoast Porsche has them at $110 ea. $440 + shipping sure beats $700.
