The Saturn Sky looks really cool, if only they have some more power(250-300 hp) I MAY consider it.

With this conversion Vette motor it should have 400+ HP. Imagine the Z06 Motor in it 500+ HP 2700 lb it will be close to CGT speed. and whoud sell for 60-70 G's Now that is a deal.

That Saturn Sky looks good! With 400hp, it would be insane. GM makes ******************** cars, but their motors are tough as nails!

Give me a Sky with 400hp for $30K and I'll buy it on the spot!

My top dog friend of mine at GM says they are planning a 240hp Sky(Redline Edition). So wait for that if you plan to buy one.
He said if he were to get one of the two it would be the Sky since the Solstice was made more cheaply compared of the two.

400hp would be nice but not from that oversized, under-revving, 50 year old lump they call the Corvette motor. Give me a Northstar V8 - DOHC or nothing!!!

I wonder how the v8 Solstice compares with the v8 Miata.

Some people have even supercharged the transplanted Mustang engine. Works out to over 500hp in a car that originally weighed around 2300 pounds.

Hope they get the handling right. "Power without control is nothing". Not sure I got the quote right. The Sunbeam Tiger had plenty of V8 power, but was not too much fun to drive. If they do get it right it could be a hoot.

You are misjudging the Corvette motor. It is smaller and lighter than all DOHC motors (including the Northstar). It has a completely flat powerband. It has enough torque to move a car on the freeway at less than 2K rpms (that's how the Vette gets almost 30mpg freeway...ultra tall gearing). And lastly, it makes a boatload of torque.

As for handling, it has the potential to handle well. The chassis is hydroformed like the Vette's I believe. That means it's ultra stiff. Of course, since it's GM I'm sure they'll find a way to screw it up trying to save a buck.

I've driven Vettes. Not my cup of tea. I don't deny that they make a lot of power and torque. They don't have the character I like in a motor. Give me a free-revving overhead cam motor any day. That and I just love driving high-tech cars.

I have a running joke with my friends. Whenever we see a roadster or convertible being hyped on TV or soemone points it out in a car magazine
they can be 100% sure that my immediate response will be (while pointing to the TV or magazine):

"THAT CAR AINT **************** !"

I think they are getting really bored with this joke which means I have no plans to stop. :D
