Wierd Noise from left side....2002 Boxster - non S

its a whinning sound kind of like a belt but it occurs only sometimes, clutch in or out, rpm not a factor and stops below 25mph instantly. It's loud and people stare.... I have shame...

bearing? axle issues, brake wear indicator?

Any help as always would be appreciated

so you can not make it occur at all while not driving? If this is the case, it has to be a wheel bearing/brakes/ or transmission. other wise if it was anything to do with the motor, you would be able to reproduce it while standing still.

Wheel Bearing

Sounds like my 2002, which had a bad wheel bearing on the right side--my mechanic knew about it because he had replaced one 2-weeks before, also on a 2002.
