Sachs clutch

My mechanic is doing my clutch and IMS next week, and I'm trying to decide on OEM or Sachs. Does anyone hAve experience with the Sachs brand clutch? Any rumors on whether it'll hold up as well as OEM? Thanks. :troll:

Its a 99, FYI.

Somewhat offtopic, but have you received a quote on how much it will cost you? I'm going to be getting the same thing done soon.

Go with the oem. If you want more clamping force put a cayman 5 speed clutch in it.

$800 labor for clutch, 350 extra for IMS plus he's doing rear rotors and pads on both my boxster and my 06 A4 for an extra $100. OEM pads and ZIMMERMANN rotors....

Jaay, you're pretty well versed. Any particular reason for OEM over Sachs? As for the cayman clutch, is that a direct fit?

JAAY 05-11-2011 04:56 PM

The cayman clutch is a direct fit. Get a 5 speed one if you have a 5 speed. Get a 6 speed one if you have a six speed. Should all fit as stock. I am running a cayman clutch with my 3.4 swap and it has been great. I just like oem over aftermarket. I know it's probably cheaper. I say cheaper for a reason.

I think the Sachs is OEM supplier. I remembered seeing Sachs logo on my OEM clutch kit when we replaced mine.
Also, when you are there, replace your RMS with the latest design.

That's what I wanted to hear. Perfect. The rms comes included in the ln IMS kit, per their website so he's going to knock that out also. It'll be a good way for my boxster to break in it's 100,000th mile.
