Buy new from Newport dealer, or other?
The Newport dealership near Fashion Island, Newport Beach is closest to my work. Any reason I shouldn't go there to buy a new Boxster?
I'll probably have to order one, since I want gray on gray (seal gray paint, with gray cabriolet top, gray leather seats and gray carpet). Almost all of their Boxsters have black tops and interiors, and there is not a single gray top on the lot or expected for delivery. Any tips on buying? What to expect below sticker? Best way to negotiate? I tried to look at edmunds.com, but other than showing the base model invoice price, it didn't help much. Since I probably will have to custom order what I want, I suppose there is no special window of opportunity based on when the 2006s come out, true? |
There are at least three threads about what to order on a 987 that have been posted on this forum in the last few months from guys and gals buying new ones. You should do a search through the archives. It will be worth your time and energy.
I tell you what though—Buy an S. Most everyone on this forum will tell you it's worth the money, and adds a lot of resale value to your car. Extra horses = Extra fun. |
I have dealt with the Newport service folks and they have been very nice indeed. The dealership has a good rep.
I would be surprised if they were the best on price as you already know you live in a very pricey area and that vendors take advantage of that fact. I know some folks at Hoen down here in Carlsbad. They can be a bit more price competitive if that is important to you. I would agree on the advice re: and S. They really are quite a treat to drive, again, if that is something you value. I advise driving both to determine what floats your boat. Either way, the car is a hoot! Best of luck. This is a great "problem" to have! |
It took some hunting
but here is a good thread:
