sorry about the info.

2001 boxster base

i have plastic pieces on the inner side of the head rest roll bars but no latch. just an area to input a nipple part.

so it seems the latch is broken from these pieces? hmm means no aftermarket wind deflector without the oem hardware.

The nipple part is exactly where levers are installed. Wind deflector will be locked with those levers

A picture would help a lot!

ok this is what i want to buy instead of oem.

That's where (red arrow) the locking levers are installed.
OEM windscreen just snaps into them

ok so based on the url and the pics and your pics. the latches are totally separate from both the head rest and the middle insert. seems they would get lost if not connected to anything.

seems easy enough to buy two latches i guess. then buy this aftermarket which is for the money a better deal than oem to me.
