Stereo upgrade
I'm looking to replace the Becker CDR-220 with an Alpine CDE126BT. My car has the amp already installed so I was thinking of just installing a new head unit. Does anyone have any other suggestions please?
Any feedback please would be appreciated. Thanks Gary |
my recent upgrades
I also have a CDR220. I installed the rear speakers from Harvey. Very easy and professionally put together setup. I have added the iPOD cable from Becker and have it hooked up to a new 16GB Nano. It sits under my park brake handle. It is accessable for changing settings with my thumb while driving. It is a great setup. I keep it in place with velcro. (no need for a changer). I have also purchased a Pyle Low Profile 8" powered sub. It will fit behind the passanger seat. I need to build a custom mount for it, but that will not be too much trouble. All in all I am very happy with my upgrades and I still have a stock look. :D

Stereo upgrade
From everything I've read the Becker unit is not that good. I upgraded the speakers a year ago to MBQuartz and Polk Audio and they are great. I took out the baffles in the doors and mounted the Polks on 5/8 plywood with dampening material. Found the how to on this site somewhere. Also, I want Bluetooth and ipod capability. My local guy is doing the install and everything for a little over $300.

The pioneer double din units are pretty good and not that difficult to DIY. Save you almost $300 if you think you could DIY. There are many brackets out there for those head units for about $100. iPod connectivity, bluetooth, nav, dvd, etc... The whole shebang. I installed the pioneer 910bt and love it. :D

The clarion NX501 is really nifty, includes GPS, iPOD and Bluetooth as standard and looks quiet stock when installed. Only issues is the unit lights up blue, but looks good!

Pioneer 930BT
Had it installed today and it looks sweet and sounds great even with the stock amps. Uploaded the Porsche logo for the start up screen via the SD card....only thing is they haven't made the trim piece yet because the installer had no ABS.....does any one know where I can just buy the trim please?
Thanks Gary |
