Window tinting...
I am going to be ordering a new convertible top for my Boxster with a glass window and wanted to get it tinted. I was wondering if anyone knew if this could be tinted once it is installed on the car or if it would have to be done before hand. It seems like it would be hard to do when installed with the top up but maybe if it was partway lowered, it could be done.

You might want to wait to tint that window. Tinting can wreak havoc with the rear defroster if done incorrectly. Moreover, it is a pretty small window so there will not be mucn sun coming in from that direction.
IMHO! :) |
Definately will burn the tint if defroster is active!

It's not impossible to tint while on the car. But it is much easier to tint with the top removed. I had my hardtop removed when it was getting tinted -those roll bars make for quite an obstacle! I'd worry about the tint getting scratched or something while the convert. top was being re-installed.
I don't know why there's so much fuss over the defroster... is it hotter than other cars' defrosters? A professional tinting place typically knows what they're doing. |
