Vanity mirror garage opener...
I got the bug to tinker last night, so here's what I came up with.
I pulled the vanity light assembly out of my driver-side visor, gutted it, and tucked a very small garage door remote into the void. The opener is held in place with a couple of smears of RTV... https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/_w...0/IMAG0256.jpg I then modified the mirror mounting so it could slide a bit, but is held in place with an elastic band. Now that the proof of concept works, I'll replace with dabs of silicon. https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/_w...IMAG0255-5.jpg Now the vanity mirror looks just like a vanity mirror, but if you press the center, the garage door goes up and down. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5UocnPvc6E |
Is there any way to get youtube links to work, or no?
|
To get the link to work
you copy the http thru 6e stuff into the address bar of a new tab of the browser.

brilliant, finger smears aside. :)

But what if you drive without gloves on? Oh I know, you hit it with your forehead. :)

sd_boxster,
Pretty slick and love the ingenuity. Nice Job! |
Nice idea. There are several methods for integrating a garage door opener into a Boxster. I used this one from RennTech:
http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?/tutorials/article/153-yet-another-way-to-add-a-homelink-device/ Your method is less expensive and easier to install. |
Gump...you are a G-D genius !

very smart idea. however, i've already done the garage door hack to the button near the airvents. any other ideas of what i can stuff in the vanity mirror?
|
Well, there's the oil slick dispenser, ejection seat, and flamethrower mods to consider...
|
In all seriousness, though, I have Flash2Pass installed, but the range is so disappointing I thought I'd try something new.
