Boxster wheel caps

I want to replace my current (1997) Boxster wheel caps with the colored crest wheel caps. Any suggestions on the best way to get the old caps off?
Thanks

Punch a hole in the center of the cap with a screw driver and they will pop off.

Don't you have to remove the wheel first and push it through the inside of the wheel?

Randall, the whole point of punching a hole thru the center of the cap is to allow you to replace the cap without removing the wheel.

Whoa - I don't think you need to punch a hole in the center caps. My center caps have 2 small holes in them hidden in the black of the emblem. You can either buy the fancy tool from Porsche or you can get a wire coat hanger and fashion L-shaped bends at the end of the wire to pull the center caps off.

the caps come of very easily with no damange. I just did it this weekend when i was repairing one of my wheels. A flathead screwdriver covered with a piece of cloth or a rubber pry tool of some sort will do the trick. Just be careful :)

easiest way is to just take the wheel off and push them out from the inside out.
No tools needed to push them out because you can bend the little prongs back with your fingers.

Punch a hole is crude.

Drill the sucker out.

What poor advice. Just take two allen keys through the little holes and pull out. So that way if the colored ones get stolen you can use the old ones

Peter, get to know Jeff (Toolpants) a little more and you'll see he's got thousands of pictures to add punch to his twisted sense of humor...

You're absolutely right though... carefully removing the black ones will indeed give you something to use when and if the pretty ones are stolen... which seems to happen all the time. I saw a boxster at the post office last week where the center caps had been heisted as well as the pretty chromed air nozzle thingys <--highly technical name! :D

I know, but he never got the right information.

You mean, after 6 years, I have been doing it wrong?

I like the beer can opener approach. After all, we all have several of these laying around, right?
