defrost button

guys, what does the defrost button do? i have an 02 with the plastic window, so i am not sure where that button is suppose to defrost. i am referring to the button directly above the top up/down button. tried it before, but didn't really appreciate any effect.

On cars with the plastic rear window, the defrost button activates the side mirror defrosting.

If the car has a plastic window and a hardtop, it will activate the rear defroster if the hardtop is pugged in.

Magic Defrost Button

I have a '98 with a plastic rear window. From time to time when I put up the side windows the defroster button comes on. Not always. Just randomly. Any thoughts?
