Non Porsche question: What car is this?
1 Attachment(s)
My coworker took a pic of a car and neither of us knows what it is.
What car is this? |
That looks like a kit car based on a TR8.
Edit: or a TR7. Either way it's definitely a Triumph judging from the headlight covers and the door handles. |
With all the Ford GT40 styling cues, I wonder what possessed them to put a Ferrari sticker on it?
Regardless :barf: |
Looks like a TR7 with a body kit
|
But why? I agree. It's a TR7 or TR8 made horribly ugly.

+1 on the TR8
The TR7 is a beautiful car. But, given that the TR8 door stop was ugly to start with, why not?
|
I don't think it's a TR at all, maybe the headlight buckets from a TR used in a kit car that was likely built on a VW frame or maybe even a Fiero which was used in a lot of lambostein projects, door pulls look Fiero the more I look at it!
PS Friend had a brand new TR7, build quality was awful. |
I'd rather be caught driving the Ford escort in the background than that abomination .
|
Another fiberglass POS kit-car.

The homemade build quality of this POS is probably about the same as British Leyland's workmanship of the time. |
JTP win's the cigar, (or whatever it is he likes an ale perhaps) the door line is definitely TR, it's likely a TR kit. Personally, I would not have invested that effort and money to arrive at that car as a finished product. However, I respect the owner's enthusiasm for having a unique car that makes him feel like he's entering a race car, every pot does indeed have a lid.

So I just started to get ecstatic about seeing a rather clean looking Triumph, but then I started scrolling across and saw the confusing Ferrari badge and other outrageousness making my way to the back, I got very disappointed. :( I'm all for nice kit cars, but I can't really call this nice.
I actually have to admit I got a  look on my face as I initially saw the Escort and thought, 'does he really not know what that is...?' :o |
I did some research and came across this article, look at page 3;

Very interesting to see, so it may actually be a TR with a kit on it as opposed to a kit car.
I have to say, if it's something nice (my opinion) like a classic Triumph, one shouldn't ruin it by putting some ridiculous kit on it to make it look like a GT40 or a Daytona 365...that's really annoying to me. Now if it's something like a Fiero that's converted to look entirely like something else, that seems more like giving that car a higher calling (again, just my opinion) than being a :barf: Fiero |

Oops
You're right, Mike. I meant to refer to the TR6, which I still think is a classic style.
|
Looks like a Lancia Stratos to me. Somewhat modified, but I would say it looks like a Stratos more than anything.
