Black sponge from air vents???

Just lately I've noticed bits of sponge on my dash and coming through air vents. Anybody know where this is coming from and how I can fix it?

Do a search for black "foam", lots of posts about this issue.

The foam comes from the air/mix door in the heat/AC system. I posted a link to a

site where it was explained how to fix this problem. You have to go down through

the area below the battery to reach it.

The door looks like swiss cheese, it has holes in it. The holes are exposed when the

foam distintegrates and comes through the vents. Seems to be more of a problem

on southern area cars. Heat/humidity??

I'm going to have to make the repair on my car too! Fix is easy, getting to the door

is a bit of a hassle.

If I can find the site again I'll post it here. I printed it off just in case the site went away.

Maybe it's a conterceptive sponge.
