I just bought one! Thanks!
I also plan to disable the speed and parking brake lockouts in the top relay. Freedom, at last! |
fantastic! thank you!

1 or 2 year warranty
Your post says 1 year, and your website says 2 years for the warranty.
I'm saving my pennies  |
Good luck with this! If I hadn't bought a SmartTop last summer I would be all over this. The convenience is well worth what you are asking.
|
Thanks Guys!

Good spot, 2 years is what both should say. |
I personally don't like bending pin 18 over when you can simply put tape around the pin and won't do any damage to the relay. My luck if I sell it someone wouldn't want that feature and then pin would snap off when trying to bend it back. I just used some tape and it worked fine. Heard that relays over $100.
Just my 2cents |
That works too, same idea.

I installed the Robo-Top last night. Installation took 4 mins - and that included a top down/up test cycle.
Product appears well made and felt sturdy while pushing on the single connection. The instructions were outstanding with easy to understand steps and clear color photographs. The one-push button operation is really nice and I plan to do the hand-brake and speed fix tonight so I have full control over the top and can put it up/down with one push of the button on the way in/out of the driveway. At the end of the day (and about 15 mins of total effort), I will have the same features as the SmartTop at 1/3 of the price. Highly recommended! |
Thanks for the review!
|
Even when I have to chop the top, Robo-Top is great to have.
|
Bump for those who have not seen this.

After installing the Robotop one-touch switch and working around the speed and parking brake lockouts several weeks ago, I can say that this is heaven!
My typical routine now is to put the top up/down on my way in/out of the driveway. Speeds are like 5mph so really no threat of damage - just super convienent. Also greatly reduces anxiety when dropping or putting up the top while stopped at a light (will I make it befoe the light changes?). Of course, pulling over and stopping for 15 secs to put the top up/down wasn't the end of the world, but this approach is much more convienent. Both the speed and the parking brake workarounds can be done together in about 10 mins. Well worth the $79. |
Thank you Mr. Stone.
|
I will be ordering mine in the next couple months once I get my car back. I have been waiting for something like this for as long as I have had the car (only a year haha). Can't wait!!
|
Just installed one of these tonight. Everything seems to be working exactly as I hoped! This is the perfect finishing touch to my new glass window top. No more chopping AND no more button holding. The top works just like the side windows now. Awesome!
Installation was ridiculously easy. Thanks Highlow! |
Bought one from Highlow about a month ago.
It work perfectly on my 2003 S RHD . Highlow is also very kind to assure me that if the module is not working, he will refund me the money once i shipped it back to him . Highly recommended seller  |
Thank you Tyler.
Having done the number 15 and 18 pin Mods on the relay switch some months ago, and after reading about the Robo Top on my UK Boxster forum, I decided to buy the one touch button mod to complete and finish off this Modification, one thing I need to mention before I forget is, I got stung for £18.00 customs duty charge when it arrived in the UK  so do you cousins across the Atlantic a favor and tick the box that says "Gift" ;) Just to add a little note, I now find I'm dropping the hood a lot more now I have the Robo top Mod, it's so easy and convenient (and looks so cool :D ) I drop the hood on the way out of my estate for a while until I'm about to reach the Dual carriageway (70 mph speed limit) and just flick the button and top up before getting on to it and putting my foot down, at the end of the Dual Carriageway while slowing down for the roundabout to the town center again one touch and down it comes again, and so on a few more times until I get to my final destination, will have to make sure I oil/grease the hood a lot more now  And last thing thank you for very good customer service, was a pleasure doing business with you and also all good reports from other members of my forum. Thank you all very much, I hope you all enjoy the product!

just purchased.
i like that the install video is 37-seconds from start to finish... update 4/13/2011: arrived yesterday. installed this morning - took less than 4 minutes including a top up/down test. took longer to remove the plug from the original switch than anything else. feels solid, no worry that it might slip off someday. all i can say is if you don't have one, get it - excellent cust svc, quick shipping and one of the easiest and cheapest to do mods out there. |
One more bump!
|
Another bump!
|
Are the 15 and 18 pins modified with the Robo-Top? In watching the installation video it looks as if it is a straight procedure with no modification of any pins.
|
i simply followed the instructions. as they are written you still have to pull the e-brake. the pin adjustments are for top operational while in motion.
|
got mine some time ago :)
It's really one of the things that you don't know you need them until you have them (I have an upgraded top with a glass rear window btw) |

Despite the success of Robo-Top, I have decided to not continue with it due to a lack of time. In other words, Robo-Top units are no longer available. Unless someone wants to buy a nice side business, that's all folks! |
Robo-Top
Do you have any stock left? I've been thinking about this for a while, and just saw this thread for the first time. Actually, out the other night when it started raining, and had to pull off the road to apply the parking brake to raise the top, so.....
Please advise... Pat  03 Boxster S |
Robo-Top
Bump so that HighLow sees this and responds....

I am currently in the process of trying to sell the company. If someone buys it, then I will give you their information and your info to them so that you can buy one when it is ready! I'll keep you posted! |
Robo Top
So does that mean that you are out of stock?

The RoboTop chip is now available and in-stock to enable one touch operation of your 986 top. All of the info is included at the top of this thread.
|
Is there a way to get out of using the e-brake?..Would that be pin 15?
|
Hi mallai.
I think this is the information you are after, I posted these threads on our UK Boxster forum a few months ago, it's in two parts. part one:- Hi all. Just thought I'd keep you up to date on my latest Mod, found it on a Porsche forum I'd never used before (God thats two I'm on now) anyway back to the modification, on the newer 987 model Boxsters they have built in the option to be able to retract or put up the soft top while on the move, governed to approx 25 MPH, well on the model 986 there wasn't that option, However having found this thread about "soft tops" one of the post pointed out where to find a particular relay block on top of the fuse box, and if you bent over one of the many pins, number 18 to be precise, it would enable you to retracted or put up the soft top the same as the 987's, this was a brilliant find not only because it allows you to do this action at any speed, not advisable above 30ish MPH, but Porsche are selling the relay magic box to do this action at around £300 as an upgrade for the 986's, it only took me 30-45 seconds to get the relay out and bend the pin "job done" the only thing different is you have to take up the first click on the handbrake to illuminate the handbrake light on the dash board, that fools the computer into thinking the car is stationary, and allows the mechanism to carry out the actions, good or what. Guvs Part two:- The latest on this Mod is if you want to go one step further on the relay box there is another pin (number 15) that if you open the relay box up and solder a thin piece to wire from that pin to another pin (number 20) it will earth it out and now you don't have to even pull the handbrake up one click when putting down the top whilst on the move, done!! also I sent away to America for a one touch switch so I don't have to keep my finger on the button throughout the complete operation of putting the roof down or up now I find I'm dropping the hood a lot more now I have the "Robo top" (one touch switch) Mod, it's so easy and convenient , I drop the hood on the way out of my estate for a while until I'm about to reach the Dual carriageway and just flick the button so top up before getting onto it and putting my foot down, at the end of the Dual Carriageway while slowing down for the roundabout to the town center/bypass again one touch and down it comes again, and so on a few more times until I get to my final destination, will have to make sure I oil/grease the hood mechanism a lot more now due to more usage Guvs. Hope the above helps you. Guvs. |
Guvs..
Excellent..Thanks..Much appreciated. |
Still bend pin 18?
Just to be clear on this all, to get one-touch operation on the move without having to touch the handbrake, I need a Robo-top, to bend pin 18, and solder together pins 15 and 20? I still need to bend pin 18?
