Tires and rims

A friend of mine just bought rims and tires for his 1994 porsche 944. The specifications are 235/40/18 and 275/40/18. My 1997 boxster has 205/50/17 and 225/50/17 on them currently. His engine blew and is now selling the car for parts and he wants to sell me these tires and rims for a deal. Will these work on my 1997 boxster?

(tires and rims only have 200 miles on them so they are relatively new)

Tires will be a very tight fit even IF the wheels are the perfect offset & width for your non-lowered Boxster. However the rear tires are about a inch taller than your stock size which will kill your acceleration & you will have to rev higher just to let out the clutch :( . The fronts are also bigger than you want & will make your sluggish. The wheels will bolt on so if you love them trial fit them to see if you can use them with smaller tires but if you enjoy fast cornering you won't like those tires.
