PS Fluid choices?

Hi Guys,

after developing a leak in my power steering line, I need to replace the line and re-fill the fluid.

Curious to know what PS fluid you all run? Do I need to get specific stuff from the dealer or can I use Swepco 715? Also, how much will I need? Can get 12 quarts of swepco 715 for $110. That would be ample I'm guessing?

Lastly, will I need to flush out any fluid that is currently in there or can I just top up.

Sam

The correct power steering fluid is Pentosin CHF 11 S or the later spec CHF 202. These fluids I believe must not be mixed with other fluids.
I could not find a reference in the Bentley Manual as to quantity - perhaps someone else with more experience can chime in.....

1 litre should be enough to refill pump & lines. Pentosin CHF 11S

Porsche Brisbane had it in stock when I needed it......
Must be cheaper than importing it + shipping.

In Australia, you can use:
1. Porsche OEM (Pentosin)
2. VW G004000M2 - from any VW dealer, usually in stock
3. Penrite SSF - special order from any Autobarn.

Penrite comes in 2L. VW 1L. I don't know about Porsche (Pentosin) OEM.

I went with VW because that's the dealer near me. Price wise VW and Penrite are very similar (about $35 for 1L).

I believe a complete flush I is quite involved. Personally I wouldn't bother. The fluid is supposed to be life-time. Just top up and be done with it.
