Help Needed With What Offsets I Can Put On My Boxster

HI Everyone,


I am trying to upgrade my wheels on my 2002 boxster, but am very confused with all these offsets going round. I have been offered the following set of wheels but will they fit straight on or do i need spacers and what size spacers.... please help

The wheels i want to fit are turbo twist 2's i think with the offsets and dimentions below:

Fronts: Part number 993 362 134 06 / 7.5J x 18 ET50 offset, fitted with Continental Sportcontact 2 N2 tyres - 225/40 ZR18

Rears: Part number 993 362 140 84 / 10J x 18 ET65 offset, fitted with Continental Sportcontact 2 N2 tyres - 265/35 ZR18

Has anyone already put theses on their Boxster

Welcome to the forum.

The fronts will work. Rear offset on a 986 is somewhere between 44-47 depending on the wheel. So you'll need approx a 20mm spacer. That's on the very outer edge of acceptability. And you'd need to purchase lengthed lug bolts.

thanks husker..... will a 15mm spacer do the job?

sorry to sound a bit thick but what do you mean by outer edge?

The inside of the wheel will likely rub with just a 15mm spacer. I have 10s on the rear of my Box with et47 and it's quite tight on the inside (you will need to tie back the e-brake cables, or they'll rub).

By "outer edge", he means the limit of acceptability.

does anyone actually have et65 on the rears....if so what spacers are on...also do they come out of the arch?

A 10 inch wheel with a +65 offset is extremely high for a 986 boxster. Just to put things in perspective, the last three wheel sets that I had on my vehicle had the following fitments : 19x10 +40 , +36 and currently +31 . I've found that the ideal offset for a 10 inch rear wheel for a 986 falls between +40 to 45 . A more aggressive fitment can involve offsets as low as +35 to 40. In addition, if you ever decide to go the route of adjustable coilovers, to start, you are going to need a low offset of around +40 in order to clear the adjustable perch. So, with all of that said, a +65 offset is sub-optimal for your vehicle. And, as Jmatta indicated, you are going to need at least a 20mm spacer
