found this in the oil filter

changed my oil and found all this in the filter dark green peaces of plastic like stuff
any one no what this is or were it could have come from

Whatever the colour, its not good news.......
1) The IMS bearing has plastic shields each side of the steel balls which helps (prevents ?) ingress of debris and egress of grease. But as far as I know, the seals are black in colour.
2) The timing chain tensioners are reported to be dark red plastic, which puts a question mark on those as being the culprit.
3) It may be from the the plastic anti surge baffles mounted in the oil sump - but again I understand them to be black plastic.
4) The only green coloured items (that I know of) are the plastic plugs on the ouside of the cambox, but......that's ouside of the engine.

Whatever, you should remove the sump and inspect the debris what may be laying in there as this has the potential to be terninal - no way should there be that amount of anything in your filter.....
I'm sure more knowlegable people here will chime in - keep us informed!

everybody should study thier used oil and filter because it gives a good indication on how your engines running and if anythings been broken -up

I found thick black sludge that was like mud you'd find in the bottom of a pond ,it had completely filled the filter bowl ,i cleaned it out and its not come back

since then ive found some small metal pieces in the oil ,but nothing in the filter ,I had the sump removed and inspected they found nothing

so next time its due for oil&filter it'll be inspected again if theres more metal debris I'm gonna tear down the engine

I see notable pieces of the variocam wear pads in that mess.. Also it appears that there are pieces of IMS bearing seal in the mix as well..

Thats a whole lot of debris, more than I think I have ever seen from a single engine.

Wow! Time for a motor refresh. Looks like tensioner guides and IMS bearing are heading south. How many miles since last oil change? Total miles on motor?

just got it 3 week ago has 105000 miles on it runs good from the looks of the oil it was in there a long time

Holy cow....do not drive that thing another mile!! The next turn of the ignition could be your last. Have it towed to your local Porsche specialist and come up with a game plan, sounds like you've got a couple of issues there. It looks like the previous owners were not kind to your Boxster. What did you pay for it?

I did a trade for a chopper well there are no Porsche specialist any were around here so i am you no what
