Front Bumper Alternatives for a 2001?

Guys, The front bumper of my 2001 (non-S) is a messed up. Lots of road rash, a few deep gashes and a small bump or two after nearly 10 years of use. The rest of the car is cosmetically perfect and stock.

As a possible alternative to a sand and spray job on the bumper, been thinking about getting a getting a different front bumper set-up; nothing extreme and something that still looks good without having to make any other exterior or lighting modifications.

Really like to hear -- or better yet, see -- any examples from people who have gone down this path. Also, any comments on pros/cons of the changeover and suppliers recommendations would be very much appreciated.

Thanks!

If you're looking for a more contemporary look, but want to remain faithful to Porsche's design cues, then you should check out the following sites:

www.nrauto.com
www.precisionporsche.com

Both companies offer renditions of the GT2, GT3 style bumpers, along with some current versions of the latest 997 designs specifically for the 986 boxster. Good luck .

You could look at the 03/04 style oem bumper. I recently picked up an 03 bumper complete with grills for $500 including shipping. Makes a nice upgrade to my 99.

Thanks Guys!

Mark was the 03/04 bumper clean fit with your 99 or did you have to do any"engineering"? And where did you pick that up?

Was also thinking about fitting it with the 04 side vents which just have a little edgier look but having a problem locating at this point.

I believe it will be a straightforward bolt-on. I'll know for sure after I test-fit it in the spring prior to painting it.

I found it online through a buy'n'sell site called Kijiji. Very popular here in Canada, but I don't think you have it in the States.

Thanks. You note that yours was, "complete with grills." Is there any reason the grills wouldn't be included if you ordered a new OEM from. Just want to make sure I order correctly. Thanks!

Grills aren't included with a new bumper.
