Brake Light Assembly Question
I have a 2001 Boxster and I have a brake light that keeps going out because one end that metal cage looking thing that holds all the bulbs in place pops out just a little bit and the brake light bulb can't make contact to complete the circuit. I can push it back in by hand and it'll stay put for about 5000 miles but then it slowly works itself free and the light goes out again.
Any ideas how to fix it? If it's just best to replace it, what's the part number and where's a good place to get one? Thanks in advance for any help! |
I just changed mine so I think I know what you are talking about. The "circuit board" that holds all the bulbs snaps on to several plastic posts that are part of the lens assembly. One or more of these posts may be broken off. If that's the case, you need to replace the lens. Cheapest I've found for OEM is Sunset Imports. I paid $163 + shipping. But if it stays in place for 5000 miles, I'd just leave it and check on it a few times a year. My problem with the new lens is just that: It's shiny and new and doesn't match the faded, 8 year old lens on the other side.

OK, so it's time to show my ignorance. I figured if I waited long enough someone would ask the question, but it never happened. What does OP stand for?

I just glued the offending circut piece to the assembly...gorilla glue or something like that. Hasn't budged since...
