Removing Pass Seat.
 

So I know that if you remove the driver's seat without disconnecting the battery you will get the airbag light with is a PITA to turn off. However, is this also true of the passenger seat? I would like to take it out and drive without it but I do not want to do this if the light will come on and of course stay on.

Yes. It's the same for both sides. Just disconnect the battery's negative terminal before you remove the seat (or more accurately, before you unplug the seat wiring from the harness. Removing the four bolts doesn't throw an airbag warning lamp.

I'm pretty sure the airbag light will come on because the seatbelt buckle is part of the seat and the POSIP computer will be looking for that signal.
You would have to remove the buckle and leave it in the car in order to not get the light.
Also, depending on the model year, some seats include an airbag in the seat's side bolster.
If that's the case it will also throw the code.

If you were planning to remove the pass seat every track day simply to save weight and reinstall after the event you may want to reconsider.

A- It really is sort of a pain to do on a regular basis, and dangerous if you install it wrong or strip out your threads leaving you with an insecure seat.

B- There would be no place for your happy PCA National DE Instructor to sit. :p

Sorry, I didn't fully understand your question when I made my reply. I have an idea for you...

1. Disconnect negative battery terminal.
2. Remove passenger seat and disconnect the seatbelt wiring connector.
3. Remove seatbelt bolt and wiring from seat and plug it into connector and tuck it under the carpet on the passenger side.

This should work because the computer will think the seat is in place.

Inspect your connectors though. You may be forced to purchase a seat-side connector into which you will plug in the seat belt wiring.

If your gonna play with those kind of stuff on your car, save yourself the stress and buy a durametric cable.. you'll be able to turn off the airbag light if something happen :)

Hi, I have been removing all the interior of my 97 boxster to change the rather dull grey into black. Part of this involved removing the seats . I removed the passenger seat without disconnecting the battery terminal and after completing the change of colour i have had no issues with warning lights. I don't know if this is of any use or if the drivers seat with bring any issues?

as long as the ignition is not engaged with the seat out you will be fine
