Jack and Jack Stand Placement Questions

This probably seems like a completely stupid question, but when I was 16 I jacked up my car in the wrong spot because it was dark and messed it up a little.

I assume that once the car is raised that you simply place the jack stands under the factory jack location. If that is true, where do you jack up the car from?

Or, do you jack the car from the normal location and place the jack stands in another location for the car to be lowered onto?

If it matter, the reason for this is that I will be replacing front and rear suspension components?

Thanks in advance!

On the front I jack at the jacking points and I placed my jack stands on the body frame very near the jack. On the back I jack where the the torsion bar attaches. Go yo Pelican Parts under Tech and look up Jacking Up The Porsche. He has pictures to help you.

There are a number of popular methods. They all work but this is my favorite. Lifting from the rear jack points raises the front high enough to place a stand under the front jack point. After doing both sides, slide your jack under the point labeled PCA Jack Pt A in this post http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=20922&hl=jack Now raise the rear all at once and place a stand under each rear jack point. Done.
