Lug bolts question...

Sorry for the newbie question,

I am trying to get a set of new lug bolts to replace my old rusted ones. I have found a brand new set but the seller originally bought them for his 997, so I'm wondering do all modern Porsche models use the same size lug bolts? Will those 997 lug bolts fit my 986?

I believe they are the same, but, the come 45MM & 50MM. Check with Pelican Parts.

Thanks for the reply. I thought so, they should be the same. According to these sites the factory bolt length should be 28mm? or is it 31mm? I don't have spacers.

By the way, mine where rusty and nasty looking too. I sanded mine then painted a base coat of Rustolem and the with silver. They look new and only cost me about $10. I also did away with the locking lug nut.

I would caution you from using any of the lug bolts sold by Max Speed. They utilize a 17 mm head as opposed to the oem 19, and they also have a different type of ball seat. Not advisable. Also, 28 mm is the standard length for the oem Porsche lug bolt.

Thanks for the warning. I was actually interested in their stainless steel bolts. A few guys on 6speed had these SS bolts, they seemed quite pleased with the quality...

Could someone with direct knowledge on this please chime in? There are some SS bolts on Ebay that look pretty good. I contacted the seller/manufacturer and he said they are one piece. But, if that's a bad thing I obviously don't want to spend the $149 on them.

I would be inteested in this, too! I have the spacers and bolts from Maxspeed and have no issues sofar. Maxspeed seems to be a reputable shop.

You should be careful using stainless steel bolts in applications like wheels and brakes. SS bolts are generally weaker than regular high carbon steel bolts. I'd double check their specs before using them.

I have the Maxspeed bolts and spacers and I've been real pleased with them. It was great value and the seats don't appear to be an issue. I carry a small extra tool kit in the car and I just added a 17mm socket.
