Engine problems (MAF?)
Hi All,
Having engine problems with my 986 S, having only owned the car for a month!! Had the car for a couple of weeks and under hard/full acceleration in 2nd gear the engine suddenly stopped at 50mph so well under the rev limit. There was then no power at all (not even limp mode). Turning the engine off and on, brought the car to life, but underpowered (presumably as the engine mapping was set to the default one). No warning lights. MPG was also down. Took it back to the garage where they checked coil packs etc - the only fault showing was the the air flow sensor, so they replaced the MAF Everything was fine for a couple of weeks, but then it happened again yesterday. So I'm thinking that the MAF has gone again but that something else must be causing this failure. It's going back to the garage on Monday, but has anyone got any ideas as to what this might be? Cheers Peter |

1. Did they actually change the MAF, or did they simply clean it ? Often times, when the MAF is just cleaned, the problem will recur. 2. If you are getting a CEL code of P0102, you may have a broken or frayed wire between the DME and the MAF. Best of luck ! JD |
Thanks JD,
They did replace the MAF (well that's what they told me!!) but think it's gone again! I'll pass the info onto the garage - am not sure what the error code was. I don't have much faith in the specialist they use!! Thanks Peter |
