99 Boxster: Fuel gauge problem

I recently purchased 99 Boxster and spent few days bringing it back to life. I finally got to ride it last weekend and it performed really great, but for some reason fuel gauge was not working. I thought maybe a fuse causing this problem, but after about 20 minutes it came back on. I have noticed it works randomly, so it's a fifty deal for me. Can't figure out the reason behind this problem. Just wondering is there anything wrong with the gauge or maybe a loose connection is the culprit?

Thanks for any help.

That's a common problem. The float gets hung up on the fuel lines inside the tank. Porsche issued a Technical Service Bulletin with a fix. It consists of tying the fuel lines away from the float mechanism using zip-ties.
