That's what my fellow p-club driver did. Temporary tags were still on that GT3 when he brought directly to the autocross. Here's a pic with Toyo RA-1's glad I followed suit. The tires are fantastic. Insane bite and great for daily use.

Well, I can't drive it much right at this moment--I haven't got it on my insurance policy yet and I'm getting a clear bra put on it on Monday so I don't want to get any rock chips between now and then. It's all polished and shiny, staring at me from the garage... "drive me... drive me fast..."

Yeah, it's a brand-new 2005 and I didn't really get a deal on it, only $1600 off. That's fine though by me.

I'm considering taking it to autocross but really this is meant to be the daily driver and nothing more. I don't plan for a single mod, or to turn a single wrench on the thing. I have another car that I take out to Streets of Willow and Buttonwillow often enough and I'm involved in some amateur racing stuff as a hobby so I don't really feel the need to flog the S too much. :)

I feel a cruise to Julian coming on though...!

She is a beaut. These cars are made to be flogged. Run her up to the redline, spin the tires, and try to get her to break her traction if you can. Sell the other car.

I see you got the rollbar inserts and wind deflector...great move! Do yourself a favor and remove them when you leave the car anywhere with the top down for any length of time outside of your own garage.

These pieces are super expensive and thieves pop them off and sell them on Ebay.

There is one mod you should buy... the little red clip that goes into the hole where the top latches to the front of the windshield. This will enable your infrared motion sensors in the cockpit area when the top is down and your alarm system will go off if anyone puts their hands into the car to snag your CD's or Rayban's. You can buy it reasonably from the parts counter. I love mine, but note that it's not so sensitive that it will go off at the very back by your rollbars... so the first warning above still stands.

Do all cars come with the motion sensor capability or is it an option? I see two black lenses up by the latch mechanism..or those it? How much does the little red clip cost. I'm guessing it is simple to install and remove in case you need to put the top up in a hurry.

Hmm... I don't know if the motion sensor stuff is the same on the 05 as it was in the past, as my dealer didn't make any mention of an infrared sensor...? I'll have to find out about that! Thanks for the tip about the inserts and the wind deflector though--that's pretty annoying!

As for the "sell the other car" comment, hobo, that's kind of silly isn't it, since you really don't have any idea what my other car is, and since I stated that I'd probably set up the "other car" to be a track car. There is nothing more thrilling than driving a car on a track! :)

nice, I wanted a Porsche all throughout my 20's and had the means but the insurance in these neck of the woods means I didn't have the means. Or just unwilling to. One year I was quoted $5,000! Now that I'm an old man its down to logical levels $1600 per year.

anyhoo... The guy in the pic has a GT3 for track and an S2000 for Autocross and weekend driving. He autocrossed the GT3 plenty last season when he was familiriazing himself with that amount of power and the way more abrupt changes of direction that we see at our local Autocross courses vs. any local road course.
I'm sure he wanted to keep Autocrossing the GT3 but it was too hard on the car due to the ride height. Acutally he says its harsh just riding on the road.

Personally I think Autocrossing a daily driver is an excellent idea. I've avoided some "incidents" on the HIghway (both times :mad: with an SUV) that I highly doubt I would have been able to pull off withou Autocrossing. You just never stomp on the brake from 70mph that hard in real world drving.

And that's the one reason I may take it out to Autocross at least once or twice--to test the limits of the car. Seeing as how I'll never get a chance to take it out on an actual track (I'm not installing any safety equipment), Autox at Qualcomm stadium is about the best I'm going to get.

As for insurance, yeah I'm listing it as my second car and I already have the ten-year driver discount and a clean record so it shouldn't be TOO crazy... I find out later today....

Funny enough, my rates actually went down almost $200 a year due to the multi-car discount! With a lower deductible even!
