First post and AC question.....

Aloha!! :)
Just recently purchased a 1998 Boxster w/ 49,000 miles and have been lurking for a little bit now....Must say I've been quite excited and a bit anxious after seeing so many quirky problems w/ Boxsters.....So far nothing major on my car, but I did notice something today.

Looked under the car and saw a small puddle center/right of the car, just barely behind the front right tire.....Seems as tho it appeared after using the AC.....Anyone have any idea what this might be?

Thanks in advance,
Lou

Its probably just from the AC and is perfectly normal..

Mahalo 99- Boxster - MK! :D

I figured it may be something relatively normal, but better to ask some of the more knowledgeable people here.....Rarely have run AC in my cars before, and wasn't too up on it....

Thanks again,
Lou

Yes, the A/C dries the air before it cools it, so the humidity has to go somewhere. You have something called a "drier" that does this. If you've ever been in a car on a hot summer day with the a/c on for many hours, and start blowing lukewarm fog, it means that the drier has become saturated and needs to expel the moisture in it (which is done by turning off the a/c for a while and letting the water leave it -- forming a small puddle on the ground.

So no big deal!

Yeah! Did anyone see that this post ended without an "oh crap... that's gonna cost me a bunch of cash" ???

Hope we can all say we've been enjoying our cars without much cost involved other than fuel!

Thanks for the detailed assessment YellowJacket ;) ....Even tho it stays fairly warm out here year round, I usually don't opt to use the AC very much....but its good to know its just normal behavior .......

RandallNeighbour, yeah, how 'bout that? :D ....First European sports car for me, and one tends to be a little sensitive to anything going wrong I guess.....Really doesn't appear tho that the Boxsters have a lot more issues than most cars, just repairing them can be more expensive than your typical American or Japanese cars....Got an extended warranty for 3 years on her tho, to cover expenses of most high price repairs save the usual brakes, clutch, muffler, etc.......So alls good! :D
