Alarm problem
I am having a problem with the alarm system on my 2000 Boxster S.
Occasionally, when I press the key on the remote to set the alarm, the doors will lock but the lights will not flash, and the horn doesn't beep. When this occurs, the alarm MAY be triggered after 15 to 60 seconds. Most of the time, the alarm will not be triggered. This doesn't seem to occur when I get the "beep" when the alarm is set. Any ideas? |
The alarm is not supposed to beep. It only beeps when something is left open (e.g. the center console, rear trunk, etc).
The lights should flash. Don't know why yours isn't doing it. There is another mode for the alarm. When you press to lock it, press it a second time quickly and you will get a beep. This tells you that the internal motion sensor is turned off. Good for when you put up a sunscreen on the windshield. I had quite a few false alarms go off from the slight movement the sunscreen and it's elastic band makes due to the screen not sitting "tight". I wished the alarm did make a little beep as it is sometimes hard to hear the door lock solenoids (and the remote is a POS). - |
OK.
I had noticed that the center console doesn't seem to latch. I checked the latch and it seemed to be sticky and looks like someone may have spilled a soft drink on it at one time. I sprayed some lubricant around the latch, and now it seems to work. So now when I set the alarm it doesn't honk, but the lights do flash. I'll have to wait and see if that fixes the problem. thanks |
