101 Projects for Your Porsche Boxster

Has any one heard when Wayne Dempsey Boxster book will be released?

Frodo 09-05-2010 10:51 AM

Latest I heard was November.

Steve Tinker 09-05-2010 02:19 PM

I hope its November - just right for a Christmas present to myself......

Mark_T 09-06-2010 09:14 AM

I was thinking it would make a nice Christmas present for the wife, as long as she lets me borrow it from time to time :D

schnellman 09-06-2010 10:15 AM

Late Christmas?

Amazon says it won't be available until Jan of 2011.

Steve Tinker 09-07-2010 01:03 AM

Bugger......

2001 Boxster S Also

Hey Steve, just curious- what are you looking to do to your Boxster from a project point of view. I'm a newbie to the scene having just bought mine about 6 months ago and am always looking for some ideas as to what I can do to the car without sacrificing performance.

rick3000 09-07-2010 08:54 AM

You can find more than 101 projects for your Boxster on the internet, for free. There is a list of the 101 projects on the pelican parts forum. It is mostly maintence stuff, like how to change your oil, or replace the pollen filter, and you can get free instructions on the internet for just about everything on the list. He also includes some DIY guides that other people came up with.

The nice part about having a book is that you can have it by the car while you are working. Easier than dragging the computer out to the garage and cheaper, not to mention greener, than printing the DIY's.

C'mon Mark, get yourself up to speed on the new technology! Steve Jobs will be out of work with dinosaurs like you around. Get yourself an iPad and crawl under your Boxster! :D

Mark_T 09-08-2010 04:59 AM

Bah! My 386 DX40 still works just fine! :D

101 Projects for Your Porsche Boxster just came out and was delivered to us last week. You can buy it at most bookstores, or get an autographed copy here: http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/ShopCart/BOOK/POR_BOOK_bkptec_pg2.htm

Enjoy!

Mine arrived Friday. At $23.95 it's an excellent value and a great addition to your reference library. Use it for one project and it's more than paid for itself.

WhipE350 12-26-2010 04:00 PM

Way to go Wayne! I look forwarding to getting a copy. Your Tech Articles have been fantastic, it will be nice not to have to bring the laptop to the garage :).

It is FINALLY available. I ordered mine from Pelican last week. I doubt it will be autographed, but that is okay because it will still read the same. This book will be a time saver since I was getting tired of printing the articles from the Pelican Tech site.

Deserion 12-26-2010 04:04 PM

I received my copy last week, autographed by Wayne no less. :D

Paul 12-26-2010 06:42 PM

Just ordered one, thanks Wayne!

Iflylow 12-26-2010 09:25 PM

Hopefully today!

Ordered mine months ago, Amazon says it was shipped. Hopefully it will be in the mail today!

Every book shipped out of Pelican is autographed by me (well, the ones that I have written). Yes, my hand is often tired.

Wow! Nice touch Wayne. Thanks. Hopefully I can keep the grease and oil off the book while I finally fix something on my car (instead of the dealer). Looking forward to receiving it in the mail.

jmatta 12-27-2010 05:39 AM

Received my signed copy from Pelican last week...it's definitely a keeper.

gthompson999 12-27-2010 06:20 AM

Received my copy for Christmas.

I believe it was from Amazon.

It seems like a very comprehensive, easy to follow guide to a lot of the projects that I wouldn't normally try. I definitely support the theory that having the book at hand is easier than clicking through all of the pictures on an online site (invaluable though that resource is).

jditom 12-27-2010 09:39 AM

Got mine for x-mass!
Great job.

Already used it on page 60.
Used my Durametric software to check my camsaft positioning sensors as an sign of IMS failure. Mine were 0! It was a great to see that!

Thanks
Wayne

ChrisZang 12-29-2010 11:41 AM

Just got my book from Pelican (with signature from Wayne :-)
Believe me, YOU WANT THIS BOOK!!!!!
It's like the "Bentley for Dummies" (in a very good way).
Lot's of color pictures. And what I liked that it includes references to aftermarket parts where it makes sense. There is even a section which discusses engine swaps and one about Turbos and Superchargers, you won't find that in the Bentley :D
The only article which was surprisingly missing was how to install an underdrive pulley, strange.
But otherwise a really GREAT book, go out and order yours!

Steve Tinker 12-29-2010 09:36 PM

Ordered mine last week - should arrive here in Australia on 6/1/11.
Thats my New Years present to my wife - if she don't like it, I'll keep it for myself in the garage..... :p

MN 986 12-30-2010 06:40 AM

My wife pre-ordered my copy from Amazon, and I found it under the Christmas tree along with a random orbital polisher, a Ctek3300, and a Porsche tire gauge.
Very nice surprises! I wonder where she got those ideas.
I haven't been able to stop reading the book. It will be very helpful (in Spring). It is well written and organized, and has great pictures. I had already used the online information to resolve a convertible top issue last Summer.
Thanks Wayne!

thstone 12-30-2010 07:59 PM

Got my copy and already did a project!

My wife bought me the book and a PNP rear speaker kit last week for my birthday. I installed the rear speakers yesterday and the book had MUCH better color photos than the instuctions in the kit.

Overall, great book and the rear speakers really help the stock stereo sound like it should have straight from the factory.

Dale_K 12-31-2010 03:46 AM

I ordered my copy from Amazon on Christmas day and the mailman delivered it yesterday. Funny how some stuff ships UPS and other times they use the USPS.

Dragonwind 12-31-2010 04:04 AM

Just ordered my copy from Amazon, can't wait!

SeaNile31 12-31-2010 05:15 AM

I'm heading to Borders and if they don't have it then to Barnes and Noble for this book. I'm Boxsterless at the moment but the book sounds great.

Paul 12-31-2010 11:41 AM

My autographed copy arrived today. You want one of these. Very well done.

Curly 01-04-2011 07:51 AM

Just ordered my copy from Amazon. Sorry Wayne, I didn't feel like paying Pelicans exorbitant shipping for your signature. ;) Thanks for doing this, I look forward to my stereo upgrade when I return from Afghanistan.

Thank you all for so many kind words! The book is indeed selling well - Amazon has sold out at the moment, but we still have plenty of copies in stock.

If you have a free moment, and you like the book, I would really appreciate it if you could put up a review on Amazon - I'm trying to quickly get to 20 positive reviews. I think that helps your ranking in the search engine on their site.

Thanks!

Done, glad to help!

SeanZ4 01-11-2011 05:59 AM

Got my autographed copy yesterday. Nice, nice book! A good quality printed product on a nice enamel gloss text. At 23.95 on the pelican site it is a bargain. Being in the printing/publishing biz I can guess what these cost to produce and it's not cheap folks!

Thanks Wayne!

Sean

I just posted my review this morning. Thanks for the great book, Wayne!
I can't wait for the snow to melt in MN so I can use the car and the book,,,,
