Air Condition - When to turn off?

I usually DON'T turn off my Air Condition when I turn off my car.

I have friends that turn it off before they shut down the car. They say it's better for the air con.

To me it doesn't matter, because all the button does is disengage the compressor, stopping it. This is the same as turning off the engine. I'm not an air condition person, so I'm just assuming that's that it's the only thing that happens when you turn of the air cond.

Is it actually better to turn off the A/C before turning off the engine?

If you run the fan without the AC on for a couple of minutes before turning off the car it will dry out the condensation on the heat exchanger of the evaporator. It will keep the mold from growing on the heat exchanger and you won't have the sweat sock smell from your AC. It's really the only reason to turn off the AC before turning off the car.

Thanks, I didn't realize that.
