Anybody in the Austin area have Durametric software?

My airbag light has been triggered so I took my car into our local Porsche dealer to have it read. The passenger seat belt buckle has failed....I've already replaced the drivers one, twice. After seeing that the dealer was going to charge me $200 to replace it, I opted to order the parts from Suncoast and save some money by doing the repairs myself.

However, I do not have the software to reset the codes after the repair is completed (should be finished tomorrow afternoon as soon as the parts get here).

Does anybody in the Austin area have the Durametric software? And, if so, would you mind helping me out with resetting these codes?

Thanks in advance for the help.

SB

The $287 "enthusiast" version of Durametic limits the owner to a total of 3 VINs. Once a VIN is linked in it can't be removed. So unless you can find someone with the Pro version that doesn't limit the number of VINs or a particularly generous enthusiast package owner, you're probably SOL.

IMO, if you're in for the long haul with your car, it's well worth the $287 for your own setup. You'll find it to be a huge convenience and time saver, and very likely a money saver. If you only use it for your car, you'll certainly be able to recoup a lot of your investment if you sell the car.

BTW, I pickup up mine used (only 1 VIN registered) through craigslist for $175. Haven't had to use it yet, but it's nice to know it's there if/when I need it.

Thanks for the info, I was unaware of that fact. I'll take a look at that link...might bite the bullet and buy the software for myself.

I have no idea if Mike can help you or not, but at least this member can vouch for him and his character. If he can help, he'll give you a fair shake. Nevermind his website is under construction, he puts his efforts where they belong, in the garage.

I presume you are aware of the TSB

for a grounding wire upgrade that Porsche put out years ago. My personal Boxster has had 4 trips to the dealers before the airbag light on was finally solved...both buckles and 2 trips for the grounding.

Further info here .

Special thanks to Mike (seningen) for helping me out this afternoon with the airbag light. Everything is back to normal and working great. I highly recommend working with Mike if you ever have the chance....he was extremely nice and willing to help out another Porsche enthusiast.

Thanks again Mike.
