Tiptronic S or Manual Base

hey guys,

im looking at getting my first boxster,

im was originally set on a 99 base manual but a tiptronic S has come up at the same price.

im usually against getting a sports car in auto, as you lose the whole point of a sports car.

What are your reccomendations?

Wink Tiptronic S for me now..

Read the post "Tiptronic in Manual Mode".....I think I have just discovered the best of both worlds with my 2.7 Tiptronic S, depending on whether I wake up feeling sensible and in fuel consumption mode, or wake wanting to destroy the planet's ozone layer with my fuel vapour trail....

There is some great information on this site, from some knowledgeable people, have fun surfing it.

My advice: give them both a test drive! While many enthusiasts go for "undiluted manual transmissions," I think maybe getting extra power may be the better way to go, even with a tiptronic. It's not the best auto ever, but you do get control over your gears so it's not a complete waste of a sports car.

However, an S should cost a good 3k more than its non-s brother, given similar conditions and options, make sure you get these cars inspected before you buy! You may end up spending a lot more in the long run if you buy the "cheaper" car.
