Porsche Corral at NJMP

Anyone attending the Grand-Am race at New Jersey Motorsports Park this weekend (July 17-18) ?

I bought tickets for the Porsche Corral and will be there both days. I'll be easy to find...Arctic Silver Boxster...I'll be the only one, right?? :D

I won't be going to that event this weekend, sorry I won't be able to be the only other Artic Silver in the lot  , though it sounds like it'll be a pretty good time.

I will, however, be going to this event at NJMP, which I think will also be pretty awesome.

I can't find the proper site here at work. I'll search for it and post when I get home.

It's mainly a place where all the Porsches park together, and I believe there are refreshments and maybe a little lunch. Porsche drivers autographs and some goodie bags, all for $45 per person.

Oh yea, there's a bunch of racing going on too !!

Ah here is the info...

I attended a Porsche Corral at the Barber Motorsport Park for the Alabama Grand Prix this past April - see my post: http://www.986forum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24426 .

I was there for the event with an all-acess Operations Pass and so was there the entire week.

Being a PCA member (and an 'Operations' person) I was granted admission without paying a fee.

PCNA put on the event along with the local PCA chapter.

The people could not have been more accomodating. Hurley Haywood and Bobby Rahal were formal speakers, but also spent some off time at the paddock as well - how often do you get to rub elbows with the likes of these guys? Bobby Rahal was especially friendly, esp. once he found out I was restoring a BMW 2002, which he owned in college and also had just had an identical one restored for his personal use. I also am manufacturing and selling an LED tailight for the 2002's (2002s.net) and Bobby also was very interested and in fact was our first customer. I even won a Panamera model in the question and answer competition for knowing the weight of the top on the Boxster Spyder (which I had just read about on the plane down).

I would highly recommend this venue for anyone interested in Porsches or the Porsche lifestyle and commeraderie.

While I didn't have to pay, after experiencing it, I would gladly pay to be able to spend time with a bunch of true Porschephiles.

Cheers!

We had a blast !! The Porsche Corral was a huge success, at least to me ! The people were all really friendly, the tent was well stocked with ice cold drinks (very important) and I think we all had a great time doing laps on the Thunderbolt circuit.

I'd never been to NJMP before but will surely return again.

I think we had close to 50 Porsches in the corral and visits from David Donahue, Darren Law and Hurley Haywood on Saturday, and Andy Lally, Spencer Pumplley, Craig Stanton, and Kevin Buckler on Sunday.

It was a great time !!
