986 suppose to door-dinging other vehicles?

I drive japs vehicles and their doors are always light but my SO drives 01 986 and she and I be giving ppl so many door dings. I would have to keep much force to keep the door open to get in and out or else the spring force will push the door to the next parked vehicle. . It has never really occurred to me but yesterday she dinged my wheels(I drive a truck) which was parked next to my car and her edge is chipped.

is there remedy to make the door swing lightly?

Try holding the door when you get out of the car?
