Clutch recommendations

My 2003 boxster s needs a clutch. Should I get the OEM again or should I buy an aftermarket clutch? Any recommendation for a long lasting aftermarket clutch would be appreciate? Thanks.

If you're all stock there's no need for anything other than a stock clutch.

I have seen many updated designs, one site had about five choices for the Boxster.

stock clutch, LN engineering IMS bearing unit, RMS seal (Cayenne unit) replacement, and check the axle boots to see if they are torn. You'll need to change the oil and filter to safeguard against the possibility that extracting the old flawed IMS bearing resulted in any debris getting into the system.

why Cayenne unit?

I've been told this is a better seal design. I presume that rather than make a new one for the 986 they decided to simply dip in the Cayenne parts bin.

I thought the cayenne was a V8 are you sure you are not talking Cayman?

To tell you the truth I'm too familiar with any SUVs even the Cayenne. But the RMS seals were failing on many Cayman's too when they first came out. Cayenne RMS seals are used on 986's and 987 Caymans and Boxsters.

He's correct. They are using the Cayenne's seal in the 986 now as a better fix. Apparently, this latest seal cures the RMS problem.
