Quick questions for the interior mod guys
Hello-
Can anyone tell me where to find the stainless steel warning light surround for the gauge cluster inside the US. I swear I saw one somewhere... Also...regarding the troublesome dash strip...I can get to the screws it's just a matter of having the time....has anyone actually ever just pried the thing out and glued a new one in? I was told about this technique and then when I inquired here, the person I was in contact with was also told the same(but didn't do it)...any success and/or pics? Thanks- Kyle |
Here you go Kyle,
I spent a bit of time researching before I decided which route to take. I just could not bring myself to butcher my lovely car! (External link) http://www.renntech.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=392&hl=removing+dash+strips Go careful now! Got my warning light cover from ebay! About £12 + p&p http://i548.photobucket.com/albums/i...orth/011-1.jpg |
Thank you good sir! I guess I will just have to take a day off and spend it with the strip. I will probably order the paint, and do it myself this time. I am still waiting on the return of my other trim pieces and the last of the OEM Carbon stuff...all of that will probably be done by Wednesday.
That metal piece looks great! I can only find it in Europe...so I might just have to deal with that. Do you have different colored bulbs in your instrumentation? Kyle |
Wow, to each his own, but that warning light metal cover looks a little over the top to me.
A bit more subtle, perhaps, are the alumalook clock and mileage reset knobs I installed on my cluster set. I hated the cheap look of the black plastic reset knobs that were in there before... Standard knobs on left, alumalook on right: http://i33.tinypic.com/qp5pwl.jpg After: http://i34.tinypic.com/i2r2q8.jpg http://i36.tinypic.com/rlawl2.jpg |
Those are neat too, where'd you find those?
|
Haha...maybe a good match to go with your new gauge warning light metal strip. :D
A fellow board member here helped me find them. They are only sold here (as far as I know)..... Not cheap for sure, but I really like the look in the car, as it gives it a more expensive look to the gauges when there's already so much plastic in the car... http://www.design911.co.uk/fu/prod1300/Clock-and-Trip-Alloy-Knobs-Porsche-996---986/ |
Thanks! I think I'll have to get a pair of those too!....the list just neverends :D

bulbs are blue neons, to be honest they are a bit dark and when I can be ar$ed I will change them for super bright white bulbs. Hmm I do like boxtaboys reset knobs too they might just finish it off  |
