Which car is this?

So I was watching the live feed from the Nururburg Ring, and noticed a Porsche truck parked at the entrance for some time. Once it opened, a race car came out. I was wondering if this is a new model? Looks like a 911, judging from the shape.

997 GT2/GT3?
Maybe the decals round the headlights threw you?

Based on the press lately I would guess it is the recently leaked new 997 GT2 RS.

Looks more like the new 3.8 Cup car...the RS has wider hips (which is what the GT3RSR is based upon).

I don't think its a production 997. The rear spoiler is black and does not look like the ones that come on production GT2/GT3's.

Besides, why would Porsche show up to the ring to run a car that is already in production? Both the GT2 and GT3 have set official lap times I'm pretty sure.

LOL, lot's of reasons! Testing a new suspension set up for VLN for one.

A friend of mine works at The 'ring and is often the first on the scene for scoops - check out his work at http://www.bridgetogantry.com/

I agree that it is probably a new Cup car. In several of the pictures it is up on built-in air jacks.
