Alternator Mount
Hello,
Some of you may know from a recent thread of mine that I replaced my alternator due to electrical problems I was having and that fixed my problem. However, I apparently did not tighten the idler pulley enough and the alternator came loose from it's position and I nearly had a very bad catastrophe. What I do have is a broken alternator mount plate (? correct part name - see pics below) and a few other minor problems. I'm hoping someone can tell me what this part is actually called - the plate attached to the engine that provides a mounting point for the lower left alternator bolt. http://lh3.ggpht.com/_47QLEDGAzmg/S9...0/P1070290.JPG http://lh6.ggpht.com/_47QLEDGAzmg/S9...0/P1070289.JPG http://lh3.ggpht.com/_47QLEDGAzmg/S9...0/P1070294.JPG http://lh6.ggpht.com/_47QLEDGAzmg/S9...0/P1070297.JPG http://lh3.ggpht.com/_47QLEDGAzmg/S9...0/P1070291.JPG |
Anytime you remove a bolt you need to put a spot of blue lock tight on it then torque to specification. That looks like a water return with the alternator bracken made as a one piece. I would try a dismantler for the part.
I checked but could not find the part number, but it will be much cheaper from a dismantler. http://www.partrequest.com/used+auto+parts/make/porsche/boxster |
