Shift Knob

Does the shift knob on a 97 Boxster screw off or pull off? I am replacing the boot and plan to reuse the shift knob. Thanks.

I assume it is like later years where the knob pulls straight off. They are on quite tight and require a pretty good force to pull upward...be careful not to knock your teeth out in the process!

I just changed mine out today. trim just popped up, loosened a hex tension screw then slid it easily off. I have an S model. The boot was zip tied to the shifter...if that helps at all.

Thanks, Guys. Sounds simple enough. Of course, that it what I said about my last project!

After you lift the base of the boot off, you just pull off the knob if it's a standard knob. If it's an upgraded optional knob, there's a set screw that you have to loosen at the forward underside of the knob.
