 what is the best oil brand and weight to use? I have a 2001 Boxster and was wondering what the best type of oil to use. I live in the Northeast. This is my 2nd oil change- the first one I used 10W40 MObil 1 |

 I think each forum member has a different opinion on that!@  Do a search, and you should find many threads on the subject. Some swear by factory fill Mobil 1 0w40, but many( most? ) don't consider that to be a "good" oil anymore. If you care about Porsche approval, the consensus seems to be Castrol Syntec 5w40. Of non-approved, a few like Red Line or Royal Purple, but I think Motul may be the best. ( I forget which Motul oil, but it's on LNengineering's web page) |

 I am a Castrol guy 5/40 synthetic..  NY come to some meets :)  search the forum for this answer.  There is none.  Go with what you like except mobile1 0-40 JUNK....Really don't waste your time looking for this unicorn.  :cheers: |

 i like extra virgin olive oil personally. the taste is unmatched. when it comes to my porsche. i use castrol synth. 10w40 :cheers: |

 Advanced Auto often has a 5 for 25 sale on Castrol Syntec. I pick up 10, order the filter online from PAP-Parts or even Ebay. Then I have a local oil change place that used to be a Mobil 1 change it for me. I provide teh oil filter wrench just to make it idiot proof. Works out to $80. Mobil 1 has mixed views due to recent changes. Let's leave it at that. |
