Premium soud (Hi Fi) what does it look like?

Hi,

I called 1-800-Porsche and asked them about options my car had shipped with
It's a very good exercise to do (I don't have a sticker) and to my surprize I found that car was equipped with HiFi premium sound system with 6 speakers...

Problem is I only see 4 speakers.. 2 on the dash and 2 in doors

Can anyone please explain to me where are the other 2 speakers? Is there a subwoofer? Car had an aftermarket alpine unit (older one) when I bought it.

Does it mean I have that fiber optic thingy also? any pointers?

Also how does full leather option looks like? Porsche guy didn't mention it (But I have sport something package) and seller said it has full leather.. My dashboard looks like leather.. but it might be a very good leather looking plastic as well

Thanks
Sasha

It sounds like you are missing the speakers behind the seats. There is a 'storage box' that the speakers would be inside that sits on the shelf (engine cover) under the roll bar behind the seats. I do not have this in my car; perhaps others who are more knowledgeable about stereos will reply.

Hope this helps.

I have the stotage box.. it has a central compartment and two small compartments to the side.. but I don't see (or hear ) any speakers there..

I thought rear speakers should be on top of storage compartment.. like in regular cars?

Thanks
Sasha

Check out the above thread. It has some images of how the speakers are installed in the storage compartment.

Thanks for the link.. now I know where the should be.

I have rear storage with holes on it.. now I have to find out where my M490 amplifier is.. and get 2 small speakers for rear storage.

Thanks a lot

Option 490

I believe you are referring to Option 490 (Hifi Sound system) and what they are referring to is: 2 - sub woofers in door panels and 2 - midrange combined with 2 - tweeters in the dash mounted "pods" If you remove the covers of your dash mounted speakers you will find that each one houses a tweeter and a midrange.

There are actually 4 on the dash...

... and 2 on the doors.
If you look at the grills on the dash you'll see that there are two-in-one.
The rear speaker kit was not part of the HiFi (490) option.
On later 987 years, the Bose Option came with the rear center woofer.
Happy Boxstering,
Pedro
