Brake Fluid

I'm planning to flush my brake fluid out of the system. I would like to know if it is OK to use the regular DOT 4 brake fluids available in Pepboys or Salvo. I have 2002 base boxster with automatic transmission. The Porsche dealer close to my area was closed for business and the nearest is 60 miles away. Thanks

"break fluid" - Do you mean BRAKE fluid? I hope your mechanical skills don't BREAK your car.

Break Fluid = Scotch or Bourbon

DOT 4

If flushing buy a different color than what you have, if Gold buy Blue, easy to tell when old fluid has flushed.

If you are doing a flush, first check the color in your reservoir. If it's pale or yellow looking, get the blue. This way you can see the color change when bleeding. 1 can will do the trick. ;)

I used Prestone DOT 4 on my '02 986 and had no issues.
