Wheel fit question
 

anyone have 10" rears? I'm considering a set of 18" wheels with an offset 50 mm front & 46 mm rear. I can never figure these things out.

I have a 19x10's on the rear of my vehicle. In general, a 10 inch wide wheel will fit a 986 boxster without any problems. In fact, given that the offset is a +46, it will provide adequate clearance from the strut, at the same time it will move the wheel out quite a bit toward the fender lip. If you want to send me a pm with the exact specifications of your current wheels, I would be glad the calculate the actual changes in fitment for you.

I have 18 x 10 rears with et 47mm. You will need to tie back the e-brake cable, but they do fit without rubbing the strut (my car is lowered about 1.5" from stock).

You should be fine with et 46, subject to your tire choice; fronts will be fine, as well.

The negative offset of 46mm from centerline brings the wheel closer to the inside; i.e. greater the negative value, the further in toward the strut. Conversely, anything less than et 46 will push the wheel out toward the fenders, causing another set of problems.

18x10 46mm will fit 100% without any issues. As mentioned be sure to tie back the e-brake cable and your set.

I run 18x10 48mm with 5mm porsche spacers (spacers just because I like the super wide rear stance) with 285/30/18 tires. No issues at all.

How exactly do I tie back the e-brake and how do you keep it from slipping?

A zip tie will work, but can work its way loose over time. There is, however, a factory clip made to keep the e-brake line out of the way. Installed them on each side, and they work great. Read this: http://www.ppbb.com/phorum/read.php?6,1454979,1454979#msg-1454979
