I applaud GA for doing this. Won't make a bit of difference because our culture is all about "me FIRST, you LAST" no matter what we're talking about.
Frankly, they need to install fast lanes and charge tolls for them. I've discovered that pokey people are also to cheap to pay tolls. I'd gladly pay a couple of bucks to rename a lane "RANDALL'S Autobahn" But I have nothing much to whine about, even living in a traffic-laden place like Houston. My commute with my wife and golden retriever is all of three minutes away from my home and I don't get on one freeway. I go under the inner loop, but I don't get on it. |
I actually remember my Dad got pulled over for driving in the left lane going the speed limit (70) in CA. He was driving a truck with a 20' enclosed trailer. He was legally forbidden to be in the left lane and his speed limit was 55, not 70. That of course is in some areas, not others, but he never paid attention to it anyways.
On my last trip to CA I got nailed with laser while I was doing 80+ in the right lane, the officer just pointed the gun down and waited for the next guy. So not everybody everywhere are enforcing all the wrong laws. If it were up to me the driving licenses would be more like Scandinavia. Three or more years of training before you can get a license. This includes "high performance" driving and advanced car control. More than just pointing to the gas pedal that passes as education here. |
Germany has had that law for years. If you pass on the right, you'll get a horn, a curse, and a finger. If you are in the left lane of the autobahn and see headlights flashing behind you, you move over. Those small headlights get big really fast.
