Need help installing Airbag Deactivation bar

Hi,

I recently purchased an Airbag deactivation bar.
$tealership wanted 280$ to install it and only 50 to just activate...
As a result I've been trying to install it myself... but I think I'm missing something..

Can anyone point me to DIY for installing the bar? or write one?

Thanks
Sasha

Here are the factory instructions. Note that you do not really have to remove the passenger seat. You can just move it all the way back, so that you have easier access to the plug under the seat that the wire needs to go into.

Your kit should have included (2) longer seat bolts than the ones currently holding your seat down in the front rail. This is to accomodate the extra height of the deactivation bar once installed. After installing the bar, you will also need a Porsche PST2 or PIWIS computer (ie. a Dealer visit), to have them activate the bar, so that the car will recognize that the bar has been installed. Once that is done, when you plug the seat belt from the baby seat into the deactivation bar, your airbag light on your dash panel will flash for about a minute when you start the car to let you know that the airbag has been deactivated in your passenger seat side.

Heh.. I can't be better than factory instructions but I'll write you my own :P

Remove the two black plastic cover on the front of the seat rail

You'll see two E-Torks, unscrew them (with the proper E-torks socket)

slide in your deactivation bar (check with the belt buckle to be sure your installing it the proper way)

plug the bar in the appropriate connector located under the seat.

rescrew the two E-torks (or use the longer one you may had received with your deactivation bar)

Go to the dealer for activation

Have fun !

It's probably a good idea for him to source the longer bolts if whomever sold him the kit didn't provide it. The bolts that came in the kit are significantly longer than the stock bolts to account for the extra height of the deactivation bar. The last thing you want is for either the baby or passenger in that seat to have that seat move forward in an unfortunate accident. They provide those longer bolts in the kit for a reason. JMHO.
