Audio delete...
Since my Sirius tuner crapped out, I decided to go commando on my audio system. This afternoon I removed the factory stereo, my piggyback JVC KD-AVX44, the Sirius tuner & antenna, and the amp from the frunk. I installed the CD holder in the dash opening where the factory HU used to live. Hopefully my GT3 console delete kit will arrive soon.
I'll yank the Bose subwoofer next. Does anyone know if the grilles for the door and dash speakers can be used with no speakers? There's probably 30 pounds of crap on my workbench after today's session. I wonder how pissed the wife would be if I deleted the A/C.... :D |
The fruit of today's labors... first, painted caliper:

You are a brave man. I just thought of your post this morning as I drove to work. As much as I love the sound of the intake/exhaust of the Boxster, I also love blasting a nice tune on the radio, as it takes some of the boredom away when sitting in traffic. :D
You probabaly gained a few hp from losing that weight though. ;) |
If the only music I had was the sound of the engine, my license would not make it a month!

+ Good for you!...stereos are the biggest waste of space and additional weight in a sports car. Who needs thumping music, when you've got a sweet flat six behind your ear.
I can count on one hand the number of times the stereo's been used in my car...and it's only when my son has accompanied me on a longer trip (he knows to bring his iPod, instead). |
