Downtown, I have people in German places! lol

Unless you have to I wouldn't go to the dealership unless absolutely necessary

Yes, there's the 2 dealers. Cannot help with advise on either.
Had my 01 Boxster for 5 years and never been to the main dealers.
I'm assuming it's some sort of warranty issue; otherwise should be looking at quality independents we have in Toronto.
I've used Hunter Motorsports.

AND: Get it with dealt with quickly. Last year it snowed Nov 15; and it didn't disappear until mid March!!
My Boxster is sound asleep for 6 months now.

I too just got a Boxster (Sept). I imported mine from Texas. Since it still has warranty on it, I drove it to my nearest dealer, Pfaff in Woodbridge. Troy in service was very helpful and gave me some advice for storage. He also told me to bring it in before the warrany expires and have them do a check over. BTW, an oil change is $270 without a filter and $365 with a filter...fyi. They are located south of Hwy 7 off of Weston in Woodbridge. Hope this helps!

In my opinion, anyone who's charging that much should be avoided.

I paid US$14 for my OEM filter, including oring and crush ring, the last time I ordered from Suncoast.

Changing the oil yourself is well worth it, as long as you have the proper filter removal tool.

God is that $365 plus taxes???

I pay $150 out the door for oil change. There are many things I would spend money on but not an oil change at the dealer.

That price is without taxes of 13%. Apparently it includes other 'checks'???? I picked up Mobil-1 0W40 at Canadian Tire last week on sale for $7.79 litre and OEM Mahle filter ($13.65CDN) from Autopartsway.ca (free shipping in canada over $75) and will be changing my own tomorrow. The dealer cost seems way out of line. BTW...has anyone tried Mobil-1 5W40? My brother-in-law is coming up from the States and can get 5 quart Mobil1 5W40 for $22 a jug at Wal-Mart with no tax in New Hampshire. In our owners manual, it lists this weight as acceptable, see below:

generally above -13°F (-25°C ) SAE 0W-40, 5W-40, 5W-50 approved by Porsche
generally below -13°F (-25°C ) SAE 0W-40 approved by Porsche

I don't understand why, even in Texas(where my car is from), they use 0W40? It's harder to find, costlier and the temp. usually isn't below -25C...even in Canada! Anyone?????????

Type "oil" into the forum search engine and get ready for overload.
I've used M1 0w40 ever since I got the car, but I'm thinking of switching to Castrol Syntec 5w40 next time.

Where, oh where, did you find 0w40? Which Canadian Tire?
I've looked for years and years and never come across 0w40.
I buy from Chalmers Fuels (Esso dealer) in Georgetown, about $9 per litre.
I often look on Canadian Tire shelves, but never see the 0w40.

Just picked it up on sale last weekend for $7.79litre at the Bolton Canadian Tire. I saw it in the Brampton CT(Trinity Common) as well. So far, Wal-Mart is not carrying that weight. Have you always used 0W40? I used it this time but might switch to 5W40, as per the owner's manual, next year.

Never used anything other that Mobil 1 0w40.
My Audi TT uses the same; therefore I pickup a few boxes at a time.
Will try the Brampton CT location this week.

delvac1 5w40

i have been using the mobil delvac1 5w40 for years, it runs me about $120 per case of 16l but i've been happy with the test result in the tdi and 1.8T

recently i even ran petrocan duron 5w40 syn to see how it goes, need to do an oil sample and see how its been.

the last info i had for the delvac1 showed better additive package than the run of the mill mobil

don't know the current makeup, and as stated a filter is under $20.00, 9 l oil maybe $50.00 can't justify paying anyone $300+, sounds like i should trade in my engineering degree and start wrenching (again)

Jaykay, I was reading my manual and it states 0W40 if the car is run under -25C most of the time. I'm storing in the winter and will be using the car when it's usually over, say 10C or higher (ie. spring, summer, fall for Toronto area). Also considering as I can get Mobil1 5W40 in a 5 quart jug in the US (brother-in-law lives in NH which is tax-free and comes up all the time) for $22 each. I know this has been widely debated on this forum, but can't see why I shouldn't change based on all the information I've researched and been told through this forum. Just my thoughts!

Jaykay...where did you get your oil changed? I just did my own for the first time, took about 1/2 hour to really let it drain, but very easy to do.
