CEL codes 1133 & 1126
 

got these codes,

what should be my first step, change out bank 1 O2 sensor before C.Coverter?

P0133 Aging of Oxygen Sensor Ahead of Catalytic Converter (Cylinders 1 - 3) - Below Lower Limit

P1126 Oxygen Sensing Adaptation Area 1 (Cylinders 4 - 6) - Rich Threshold

01 Boxster S, 69,000 miles.

Sure the O2 is tired and needs replacing.
 

Any muffler shop can do it if you don't want to. My last cost $37.50 in labor. I used the Bosch OEM unit as it is the same part Porsche buys. http://mike.focke.googlepages.com/oxygensensors will give you the part numbers.

P1126 is most often an intake air leak.

AOS checked? Other hoses tight?

Done anything recently?

Got a K&N air filter or some other non-standard in the intake stream?

I'd fix the sensor and check the throttle body for oil and reset the CEL maybe even disconnect the battery for a half hour to cause the ECU to have to reset and relearn and drive for a bit and lets see what happens.

only changed out air fliter with OEM one about 3K miles ago. I will look at changing out the o2 sensor myself and reseting the computer. I heard you only had to leave the battery off for 20 seconds and it will reset.

what about cleaning the MAF as well?

I can't see paying $600 for o2 sensors. My car is saying they are all dead. I'll do a little work to save $450.

To be honest dude I'd take this chance and respec your cars DME(ecu) to RoW that way it only reads from 1 set of o2 sensors,the rears readings are deleted. You'd only have to pay to replace the first set of o2 sensors and the car will run on wider reading parameters so the CEL is less likely to go off from emissions readings.

Who can reset my ECU to ROW? I'm down with that. :D

Lets go back to your original question. Those O2 sensors posted are generic ones without the Porsche wiring pigtails crimped on at the factory. Some have used them successfully, lots more have had no luck at all using them.

My web site has a cross reference of the OEM maker of the sensors Porsche buys with Bosch part numbers so you can buy at mail order prices. Not as low as the Walker brand ones but they do have pigtails and they give off the signal the ECU expects so we know they work (I have 2 in my car right now).
