installing Che Boxster Test Pipes
Has anyone installed the pipes available from delubozparts ( http://986forum.com/forums/273505-post1.html)?
I am following the basic outline described by Maxspeed, and it seems like the small section of pipe that goes between the test-pipe and the muffler's u-pipe is way too loose. Only one clamp per side is shipped with these pipes, and it doesn't seem like the original double-clamp will slide over the pipes.
Any thoughts?
This is going onto an '03 S with an otherwise stock system.

I installed them on a 2002 and they fit right up.
You should reuse the original clamps, they join the test pipe and rear "u" section together.

Had a few 'puff' here and there issues with my aftermarket exhaust system and used "header wrap" on the U joints. Like DFW02S said, just re-use the stock clamps and you should be 'sort of okay'. That's what I did but still had a few puffs coming out... didn't want to clamp this too hard fearing to bend the pipes so I've finished it all up with header wraps. That did the trick right away (flex and stuff).

ps. you don't need that TAR high-temp silicon spray can thingny... just a roll and a few SS tie wraps and you're laughing. Cheap but excellent fix!

Okay, figured out what I was doing wrong. Clearly I am not a DIY genius Getting that last 1/4" of movement to align the pipes is a bear...

I am wondering if you have a picture of your install. I also bought a set for my 2002 but the car is in storage for the MN winter. I would love to see how they look installed.

Did you notice any difference in sound or performance after the installation?? There was some indication from prodriver earlier this month that there could be a loss of torque @ low revs with the new pipe??
Mine are due later this week from Che....

Yes, I noticed changes in sound and performance.
Sound improved dramatically, to the point where I'm sure my gas mileage is suffering because I can't keep my foot out of it. Listen here and look in the description for the key time frames.
As to performance, the additional flow makes it rip from 3,800 rpm's and up. You can feel and hear a big change.
As to lower end torque loss, I haven't noticed it, I'm always in the higher rev ranges to enjoy the sound.
The sound is especially magnificent when the top is down.

Is this test pipe basically the same thing as the fabspeed and NHP secondary cat bypass pipes?
They just delete the secondary cats with no CEL, right? For a 986 2.7L.

I really like the sound of your car, especially in the med to high RPM, sounds great!

Just installed my pipes tonight, to late to take it out for a test run. Like Vitamin C said in the first post, I thought the "U" pipe fitting was way too loose...until I flipped the pipe over, Duh!
It's amazing the sound it makes with simply removing one of the two cats, really raspy is the way I can only describe it. Yes I do love it and can't wait to do a speed run through the twisties around the lake.
